Bossa Nova is a genre of Brazilian music that emerged in the late 1950s and gained international popularity in the 1960s. It is a fusion of traditional Brazilian samba and jazz elements, characterized by its smooth and laid-back style. The term Bossa Nova translates to new trend or new wave in Portuguese.

Bossa Nova gained international attention when American jazz musicians, such as Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd, collaborated with Brazilian artists.
